This lovely hand-painted candy/nut dish is by Lefton China. The beautiful scene is of a Victorian-era courtship, in wonderful reds, pinks, greens, and accented with gold filigree. The scalloped edges and handle of this piece have a gold brushing that is clean with no scratches. The dish measures approximately 6 inches in diameter and about 1-1/2 inches high. This piece is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or crazing.
Lefton China hallmarks do not all look alike. The mark on this dish is a crown encircled with "Lefton China, Hand Painted, Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.", and numbered 377; which means the dish dates to between 1949-1955. Although the mark may look recent, the phrase "Reg. U.S. Pat. Off." was last used in 1955.
